Aditya Birla Group to enter Paint industries in india

Grasim Industries Limited, the flagship company of Aditya Birla Group, will launch its paint business under the brand name ‘Birla Opus’ in the fourth quarter of the current financial year 2024. The company plans on offering a full suite of high-quality products in the decorative paint segment and has committed an investment of Rs.10,000 crore to set up the business.
The estimated value of the decorative paint industry in India is at 70,000 crores and it witnessing double-digit growth year on year, driven by increasing consumer inspiration and govt.’s push for ‘Housing For All’.
Aditya Birla Group’s chairman, Kumar Mangalam Birla, said,’ Our foray into decorative paints is a strategic choice that enables us to tap a high growth market and expand our presence in the vibrant Indian Consumer Landscape’.
Before the launch of the paint business, the textile manufacturer piloted the first-of-its-kind painting services in key metros and introduced a range of imported wood finishes. It has already set up an R&D facility in Maharashtra.
Grasim’s manufacturing plants are located in Haryana, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and West Bengal, will have a total capacity of 1,332 million litres per annum (MLPA) and serve demand centres across the country, it said in its statement.
