INDIA’S G20 PRESIDENCY SUMMIT to be held at New Delhi on 9th and 10th September, 2023
The upcoming eighteenth meeting of the G20 Summit is scheduled to take place in Bharat Mandapam International Exhibition-Convention Centre at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi in 2023. The G20 Summit 2023 will be hosted on 9 & 10th Sept.2023.
The G20 summit, also known as the Group of Twenty, is a forum containing 19 individual countries like Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kindom, United States and European Union.
- It will be the first G20 summit to be held in India as well as South Asia.
- India is hours away from hosting the most powerful heads of state from Countries representing 85% of Global GDP and 66% of the Global Population.
- To build support in increasing lending resources for the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank to help member Countries deal with the multiple Global challenges, said U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
- “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikash”, captures India’s approach to its G20 Presidency. The Hindi phrase, literally translated means,’ With everyone’s Support, for everyone’s Progress”, Modi says.
- India is drawing attention to sustainable energy, International debt Forgiveness and Taxing Multinational Corporations.
- India will be speaking on key issues like Climate Change and the finances required to tackle it through multilateral Institutions. It also offers other solutions to help developing countries reduce Poverty and corruption and improve the delivery of Public goods.
- India wants to encircle discussions on a wide range of topics, reflecting the developed Global Landscape and India-specific focus area, and also highlight Women’s empowerment and representation to advance Socio-Economic Progress and achieve (SDGs) Sustainable Development Goals.
- G20 Countries represent approximately Two-Thirds of the World’s total Population, Source said.
- Efforts to reform the Global Debt Framework, Secure sustainability and fairness in debt management.
- India’s PM will be addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by Cryptocurrencies, and life movement including regulatory frameworks.
