Cori Deans launch Fermented Food with her brand Small town Cultures
A decade ago, Cori Deans suffered for 7 years with symptoms of Crohn’s disease. Doctors advised her to be on meds for the rest of her life. Instead, she would have to manage her disease through diet and lifestyle. She tried a lot of things to cure. Then she started to research her condition and found a book, “Patient Heal Thyself”, which offered her an alternate approach.
Cori Deans realized that many autoimmune diseases may be caused by the fact that We are eating dead food, plus our vegetables are coming from dead soils because they lack good bacteria. Opposite of that,she learned fermented Foods are full of life.
Within months of changing her diet to Nutrient-dense whole foods and healthy fats, she ate a variety of Fermented Foods. She saw improvement. Today she can eat anything she wants. In fact, she learned about the bacteria-rich properties of food such as Sauerkraut. then she started to make it herself.
Cori deans started giving it to family and friends. the positive feedback encouraged her to start a small side business in 2017, named Small Town Cultures, while continuing to work full-time as a Therapist. soon enough though her fermented foods landed in the hands of a local food distributor. Her business has grown; she has a team of 10 people and is in about 400 stores. it will soon expand to 40 more whole food locations and deans has raised $ 1 million in angel funding to expand her business.
Deand goal is to make Fermented foods more appealing and affordable so that more people start having them daily for good health. she gets improved within months so, she is passionate about supporting a food ecosystem and nurtures human health. It’s worth reviving , she says.
